So I was sidelined from work for three days because of a 2-millimeter kidney stone. According to the doc, I was in the most pain a human being can be in without giving birth. I believe it.
It took two doses of Morphine and a dose of some other, even stronger painkiller I don't recall the name of (started with a "d" though) to get the pain under control enough that I could sit still on the table and let the nurse examine me.
But the problem's passed through now and I'm set to return to work tomorrow. My boss has been surprisingly understanding and supportive of the whole ordeal, which is kind of disconcerting considering how some of my previous supervisors would have reacted to this scenario.
It's frustrating because I really did plan to have ol' chapter six of my
stupid little story done this week, and now that ain't happening. I've been so dopey from painkillers that I've had trouble stringing sentences together, much less writing. I press on, though. I think chapter six has taken six months so far, now. That's aggravating, but for some reason I can't bring myself to admit defeat and abandon the story.
I mean to try and catch up with some of my commenting; there are some really great deviations in my "watched" list that're more than a month old I want to leave comments for. They're coming, honest.
Well, I'm supposed to take the rest of the day to let all the drugs flush themselves out of my system. I think I'll go enjoy my last hours being sedated and watch some TV.
