Once upon a time there was an OC named Shin. Shin was a Fire Nation noble from a maligned family, who despite social stigma against him was hopelessly in love with a member of the Fire Nation royalty.

One day, Shin met another OC named Amaya. Amaya was a Fire Nation noble from a maligned family, who despite social stigma against her was hopelessly in love with a member of the Fire Nation royalty.

And Shin felt need to comment.

My very first gift-art.

Amaya is the obviously-beloved creation of one KaliGargoyle, and I discovered her soon after I started writing my silly little Avatar story. The similarities between Amaya and my Shin were so pronounced I immediately knew I'd need to draw them together one day. In case it's not immediately obvious, Amaya is smitten with Prince Zuko as badly as Shin is with Princess Azula. These two would have a lot to talk about.

Kali, I hope you like it. Amaya's adorable, a wonderful little character.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is the property of Nickelodeon and those two lucky bastards that pitched the idea. They're not mine and I'm not saying they're mine so back off, shogun.

Amaya was created by KaliGargoyle, who owns the character and reserves all rights. Don't make me come over there.

And Shin is mine. Rights reserved, trades marked, butts kicked.

Background created by me in Photoshop, totally from scratch. See? I don't always just recycle screenshots from the show!

*laugh* Poor Shin and Amaya... This is too cute. I love Shin's design, and you made Amaya look so gorgeous. Wonderful picture!

*sniffle* So true.

Very kind words. ^_^ I'm releived that Amaya apparently came out okay. Kali draws her in this very luxurious, flowing style and it was hard to capture (her hair has a lot more body than I'm used to drawing, especially). And I'm glad Shin looks good. I went through about four different concepts, originally, before I found one that worked right. The doofus.

>.> Anyway, thank you! You've given me really great comments.

I have to say again how much I love this. Amaya looks wonderful and Shin’s got a great design, too. Poor kids. Their expressions are great, they match the mood perfectly.

*bows* Your approval is balm to the soul. ^^

Amaya was a lot of fun to draw. There's something really satisfying about attempting someone else's creation, and getting it right. Her attire has a really fun combination of tight and baggy bits that become graceful curves and lines perfect for inking. That hair liked to kill me, though. And I still don't think I got it right. >.>;

I think you did fine. Honestly, the hair gets me too, I have no idea what I was thinking. Her hair wasn't nearly so big in early designs, and as much as it kills me to ink, it fits her too perfectly.
