Xue, an Original Character inspired by the Avatar: The Last Airbender television program and designed by a friend of mine.
This is actually one of the very first Avatar-related drawings I did, once I decided I wanted to write some Avatar stories. I think it shows; I hadn't really come to grips with my take on the Avatar artstyle yet. Her expression's also way too perky; she's actually a very calm, soft-spoken, coy girl (to contrast with Katara's very direct, confrontational personality, the plan was). I didn't put the drawings of her on DA sooner because originally she was destined to appear in my "Ember Island Brothers" story around chapter six or seven. Things have changed and I'm not in much contact with the creator any more, so I figured that Xue should get her spot in the limelight so that her design might be appreciated even if her personality won't be.
She's a waterbender born in Earth Kingdon territories roughly as strong in her art as Katara was mid-season-two, and the product of a mixing of cultures just like Shin is -- her parents were a waterbender and an earthbender, hence the green eyes. She was supposed to have a pet kit fox, which may or may not have been a stray knowledge seeker of Wan Shi Tong's, but I never drew a picture of the little guy. She was living in Ba Sing Se and attending the academy there, when the main characters of the story would come through and encounter her. I had a lot of fun drawing her to her creator's specifications.
(Update 04-26-2011): Played with the colors on this one a little bit. I don't usually go back and pick at an old picture after so long, but I always felt this one could look a little better...

Avatar: The Last Airbender is the property of Nickelodeon and Bryke entity that spawned it. They're not mine and I'm not saying they're mine so please don't bother pretending that I'm saying their mine just to brownnose the DA staff.
